Awkwafina has been described as an American actor and musician who started her career through smart raps that addressed the issues of sexuality and race with a the most comical of perspectives. Then she branched out into Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Korean immigrants living who resided in Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came from the trumpet. She also received the classical and jazz education later delving into hip-hop as a teenager. While in the school, she focused on women's studies and journalism. She studied Mandarin during a time in Beijing. Not until after graduation did she start focusing on music.
