Anamaria Marinca bio

Anamaria Marina is an Romanian actor. She first made screen appearances with her role in the Channel 4 film Sex Traffic and was the recipient of the British Academy Television Award for Best actress. She speaks French, German, English as well as Romanian fluently. Her mother played the violin while her father was a the theater professor at one of the most famous drama schools in Romania. Won the Best Female Actor of the Year in 2000 Award at The Young Actor Gala Mangalia. She was awarded the title of European Shooting Star by the European Film Promotion Board in 2008. Apart from her stellar performance in her maiden film the actress is also recognized for her performance in the Romanian art-film 4 Months 3 weeks as well as 2 Days which won her numerous awards, including an award from the European Film Award for Best Actress London Film Critics. She starred in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 week si 2 zile (4 months, 3 weeks and 2 Days) produced by Cristian Mungiu. It won the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two other prizes (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI award). She also appeared as an infant in Francis Ford Coppola's Youth Without Youth. She played Yasim Awar in BBC's five-episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca was a part of the Romanian drama Boogie as well as Oliver Hirschbiegel's highly acclaimed Five Minutes of Heaven. She later had a prominent performance in the 2014 film Fury in which she played a German woman who was named Irma aunt to Emma.
